The STAR team prides ourselves on creating a safe environment for our clients to reach their best and true selves. The complex history of the Lotus Flower is why we decided to incorporate the theme as our logo—leaning into the flowers individually and strength as a means to expand upon overcoming life’s challenges and hardships. STAR’s logo helps remind our clients of what they can conquer, like the Lotus Flower, with our team's support, resources and treatment.
The symbolism of the Lotus Flower comes from the plant's ability to rise from mud while maintaining a clean look on the petals. This symbolic rebirth is not unlike the insights of therapy. The Lotus Flower proves that anyone, even the most gentle flowers, can find the strength to bloom amidst a difficult environment. The rebirth, in both figurative and literal sense, proves that residence can be essential in growing into your own.
Although the history of the Lotus Flower’s symbolism has a variety of understandings, the symbol is most commonly used in Buddhism to reflect their beliefs of purity, fortune, and faithfulness to Buddha. It is said that Lotus Flowers blossomed where baby Buddha took his first steps; once again proving the strength and persistence of the plant.
The flower colours also contribute to history as each colour has a different meaning in specific cultures and religions. The most common colour is pink as it is associated with Buddha and is regarded as Buddha’s “earthy symbol”. The white flower signifies beauty, grace and purity, also being in a state of mental purity, similar to the impact therapy can have. The red flower is associated with passion, while the blue, the most rare flower, is related to the goal of enlightenment.
Part of the Lotus Flower’s symbolism comes from the growth patterns. Unlike any other flower, they can live under ice and survive through challenging winters to survive until summer, when they strive in the sun. While the journey through the darkness can be difficult to overcome, there will always be a light beyond the darkness to regrowth. Much like those who may seek out therapy, the flower is on its own journey through trying times. Hopefully, the story of the Lotus Flower can provide those struggling hope that someday they will bloom into a strong, beautiful Lotus Flower.
