About Me
Lexi has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and adults in individual, couple, and family therapy. Her areas of clinical expertise include anxiety and depression; life transitions and adjustment difficulties; interpersonal, marital and familial relationship issues and conflict; separation and divorce; trauma; poor self-esteem; daily life stressors and poor stress management; oppositional and defiant behaviour; social, emotional and behavioural challenges and dysregulation; loss of meaning and motivation; ADHD; communication challenges; child abuse/neglect; and grief, loss and bereavement.
Lexi’s approach to therapy begins with getting an understanding of each person as an individual and their needs, wants and hopes around the process of therapy. Considering a strong therapeutic relationship to be the heart of effective and meaningful work, Lexi connects with clients from a place of empathy and non-judgement. In every session, Lexi strives to create a safe, trusting, and comfortable space to facilitate and promote openness, self-discovery, healing and growth. Lexi firmly believes that each individual is an expert of their own experience. As such, she combines clients’ self-knowledge with her professional expertise to support clients in meeting their personal, social and emotional goals, and maintains a client-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused approach to her practice.
Drawing on various evidence-based therapeutic techniques, and with advanced training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed counselling, Lexi works collaboratively with clients, and adapts change-focused treatment modalities to best suit a client’s needs. Lexi works with clients to identify, process, and modify patterns of thoughts and behaviours that give rise to emotional challenges and get in the way of them reaching their vision of a preferred future. She supports her clients in leveraging personal strengths and resources, promoting more positive ways of thinking, and empowers clients to both strengthen and acquire the skills and strategies to achieve their therapeutic goals and meaningful change.
