Frequently Asked Questions

We understand starting therapy can come with a lot of questions. Here are some answers to help you feel more informed and comfortable before getting started.

1

What should I bring to my first session?

Just bring yourself — that’s truly all that’s needed. Wear something comfortable so you can relax, and if you’d like, bring a pen and notebook to jot down any thoughts or questions that come up. Most importantly, come with an open mind and heart as we begin this journey together.

2

How private are virtual therapy sessions?

Your privacy is our priority. All virtual therapy sessions are conducted using secure, encrypted platforms compliant with privacy laws like PHIPA (Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act) and PIPEDA. We recommend attending your session from a private, quiet location to ensure confidentiality on your end.

3

How do I know if therapy is working?

Therapy is a personal journey, and progress looks different for everyone. You may notice it’s working when you feel more self-aware, see positive shifts in your thoughts or emotions, use healthier coping strategies, and start reaching your goals. Your therapist will check in regularly to review progress and adjust your plan as needed.

4

Is parking available?

Yes, we offer free parking for in-person sessions. Our office is conveniently located with ample parking spaces.

5

Can I reschedule if I miss a session?

Yes, we understand that life happens! If you miss a session, you can reschedule by contacting your therapist directly or reaching out to our office. Please note that a 24-hour notice is required for cancellations to avoid a late cancellation fee. See our Cancellation Policy,

6

How early should I arrive to my session?

For in-person sessions, aim to arrive about 5 minutes early so you have time to use the bathroom or grab a quick snack or drink. For virtual sessions, log in about 5 minutes beforehand to make sure your audio, video, and internet connection are working properly.
